It’s Sunday 7:22am and I’m only just now sitting down to write to you.

You know why it took me so long?

Because soooo many people replied to my last newsletter that I have been digging my way through the replies since then.

Remember how I asked last week if I got your name right? I got some hilarious replies from some of you and have been changing your names in my database accordingly, haha!

(You know who you are “Duchess Of The Fabric Stash”!)

I’ve also received a tonne of interest to my offer in the fine print at the bottom of the last newsletter. If you read down that far you’ll know what it was (*wink!*)

But you know the most common email that I received last week from this group was…?

That my newsletter is funny, uplifting and that so many of you love receiving it every week!! aaaarrrrgggghhhh!!!!!

Stop it!! I’m feeling so loved! That is utterly THE BEST thing any crafty business chick can receive in the history of crafty business chick-ness!

OK enough of these emotional outbursts… you’re here for serious embroidery and I’ve got it for you.

The embroidery design in the first photo and the ones here, is called “Eva” and I turned the finished piece into a messenger bag. I stitched it onto a brown/grey kind of coloured linen.

I made the straps way too long but I love the finished look.

“Eva” is now available as a Stick & Stitch kit and a PDF so you can make one too.

I found the sewing pattern for the messenger bag online… somewhere.

You can stitch this design in other colours too… obviously.

Like… what else would I show you other than the “Eva” design, right?!

OK now pay attention… this is not obvious to everyone…!

Stitching monochrome and stitching multicolour sometimes requires using different stitches!

If it’s obvious to you and you’re eye rolling right now that’s fine, skip reading this next bit.

Look at the examples side by side. When using lots of colours it’s easy to define the different petals when using satin stitch. But if you were to fill the whole flower with satin stitch in the same colour and then add the single stitches over the top, well I’m not saying it’s wasted effort, but the petal definition would not be the same. You get what I’m saying?

That’s why I included two different stitching instructions one for monochrome and one for multicolour.

Oh maaaannnn!!

Those colours on that dress! Fiona you’ve done a brilliant job! OK so the photo sharpness is not the best, but cut Fiona some slack. Not only did she embroider this “Marianna” design AND chose the colours herself but she also made the dress! How is that for a handmade wardrobe.

Amazing work queen. Here’s to you Mrs Robinson!

Don’t kid yourself, you probably don’t have the time…

Listen, I’m an optimistic gal. When it comes to crafting, sewing, making my optimistic enthusiasm rarely matches my available time and energy. Although that’s never stopped me from starting ANOTHER project, I’m here to be the voice of reason you need right now:

“Christmas is 31 days away. You will not finish that embroidered advent calendar. In fact you probably won’t get to finish the embroidered Christmas decorations either.”

Having said that, I’m also here to remind you that another Christmas is a whole 396 days away which means you have the time to hand embroider a replica of the Bayeux Tapestry, and then some.

So if you’re aiming for Christmas 2026 or 2035 and beyond, you can still grab one of these two Stick & Stitch kits.

I don’t have any other kits left because all the organised people who started their Christmas craft projects early bought them… they’re probably sitting there all smug and organised.

(Next year that will be me… organised and smug, haha!)

As always aiming to get the Tuesday newsletter ready for Wednesday at the latest, tripping over my shoelaces to start writing it on Thursday, realising I’ve run out of time, swearing i will write it on Friday, waking up on Saturday and running to the computer in my dressing gown.
