I do love my contemporary designs but my heart goes back to the traditional embroideries of my home in Poland.

Traditional Polish Embroidery Workshop - Tuesday 24th September 10am-4pm

If the words Eastern European Folk Crafts conjure up rich colours, textures and a bit of magic you’re spot on. This is exactly what you can create in this very special workshop and only the second time I am offering it in Sydney. I have created a beautiful design which you will learn from start to finish in this all day class. This design comes from a traditional women’s bodice and is gloriously colourful and vibrant. The workshop focusses on:

  • use of colour including blending threads to create your own unique colours

  • easy ways with the satin stitch (and I mean E..A..S..Y..)

  • french knots (don’t worry I’ve become a master at teaching this fussy little thing)

  • fly stitch like you’ve probably never used before even if you know fly stitch

  • creating outlines and textures quickly and easily without additional stitching to define edges

  • seed stitch, stem stitch, single stitch

  • my favourite tips and tricks that will save your sanity and time

It’s also important to note here that this workshop absolutely welcomes beginners. We all start off at the same place and after a while everyone is going at their own pace. I keep my classes small to enable me to see everyone individually and help.

You will walk away armed with new skills, a new project to finish quickly and new found inspiration!

Botanical Embroidery - Friday 27th September 10.30-2.30

Learn a number of different stitches as you stitch around beautiful botanical designs. All stitches are perfect for creating leaves, stems and flowers and will enable you to create your own botanical embroideries in the future. The design in this workshop is a table runner which can also be turned into a wall hanging although students in the past have also turned their finished pieces into cushion covers and even bags! All my workshops focus on letting go of perfectionism and embracing a relaxed style all to enable you to finish projects faster and give them a bold and striking finish.

I will be in Canberra for 3 days and you can choose from 3 workshops across 3 days, or indulge and do all 3! Other workshops in Canberra:

Glorious and lush textures, tactile finish, soft and cosy specialty yarns. “Wool on Linen” embroidery workshop.

I’m so excited to be visiting Canberra for the first time to share my knowledge and tips with you at the Crafty Frog.

Wool on Linen Embroidery - Sunday 29th September 10am-4pm

One of my absolute favourites, wool on linen is a glorious craft and I am confident you will fall in love with the luscious textures of this style. We work with specialty yarns which I select especially for my workshops. They are all hand dyed and mostly single spun which give a beautiful softness on the fabric. Working with this type of wool gives a very quick finish and it is extremely forgiving as the wool easily hides little imperfections. This class is also perfect for knitters who may have lots of scrap yarns lying around at home. After this class you will know what to do with it! All my workshops actually focus on letting go of perfectionism and embracing a relaxed style all to enable you to finish projects faster and give them a bold and striking finish.

I will be in Canberra for 3 days and you can choose from 3 workshops across 3 days, or indulge and do all 3! Other workshops in Canberra:

Herringbone Stitch Masterclass. This is a full day Masterclass where you will learn to do one stitch well. The Herringbone stitch is amazing in that it allows you to cover large areas quickly with very little wasted thread on the reverse. Once mastered it becomes your best friend when wanting to create impactful embroideries on clothes, wall hangings, soft furnishings or your heirloom quilts. In this class you will learn several variations of the herringbone stitch as well as how to use it on a variety of shapes, turning corners, tapering in and out and outlining. Perfect for embroiderers who have already done some stitching in the past. You do not need to be proficient at stitching to come to this class but some experience is required. Please email me if you have any questions. This is the only Herringbone Stitch Masterclass that I am doing in Melbourne this year and we have 12 spaces available.
