Important message for you all…
I've been watching how you all work over the last couple of months, and I want to make sure you know something important.
The Wednesday Tribe is not a course with homework. It's a creative home you belong to.
The monthly pattern isn't an assignment that must be finished “on time”.
It's a gift that arrives on your doorstep every month. Some months you'll stitch it immediately and some months it will go into your library and wait for the right project or the right mood. Both are completely fine.
By being here you’re building up skills, ideas, inspiration, motivation and a library of patterns you can turn to when the time, or the project is right. Or patterns that you can come back to and stitch again and again if you love them.
This month’s pattern features the Portuguese Stem Stitch which you can see above as the chocolate brown outline on the stem. Below is a video tutorial that will show you how to do this stitch.
PORTUGUESE STEM STITCH
Also featuring this month is the rose stitch. I think it actually comes with different names but I’ve seen it called the rose stitch so here it is!
ROSE STITCH
Phew! What a bumper month this is going to be and I am already beyond excited to see what you come up with using my humble pattern.
I’ve given you a pile of options for March. You can make BIIIIG stuff or quick and little stuff.
I did both! haha!
I made a table runner which will be my main table decoration under a basket of Easter eggs for Easter this year. I also stitched some egg shaped designs which I have not yet decided what to do with and am waiting for your genius ideas.
Originally I was going to make this a blue and yellow theme but then I added a red, then a green, and then just a tiny bit of orange…. and the rest is history.
I was inspired by Easter eggs of course! Every year I paint new designs, but i was delighted to see the ones pictured on the front cover as I haven’t seen them in about 4 years. I loved the rich earthy colours and decided they will form the basis of this month’s colour story.
For your small version of the project I decided to reuse the flowers on the main design and enlarge them to give you single stand alone patterns to use as you wish.
As you can see I made mine into egg shapes… what will become of them is anyones guess but it will have something to do with Easter of course!
I was thinking they would also make great pocket designs or small bags.
Now regarding the colour stories… I won’t spoil it for you by posting the photo here to the blog. I want you to see it in the magazine. The second colour story is very VERY different to what’s on the cover. I hope you like it!
