Hello friends!
This week I’m keeping things short and sweet.
Today is Johnny’s (my beloved) special birthday. He turns 63 and he was born in 63 so we’re making this one count extra special! I have a lot on my plate today and tomorrow so this week things are short… but soooo sweeeeet!!
First of all…
thank you! To all your awesome comments and suggestions and advice last week about what I should do with my pink dress.
I could not reply to all the comments, but I have read every single one and you gave me much food for thought.
I’ve decided to not unpick it.
That was such a dumb idea… seriously… 🙄
I can just imagine me half way through unpicking and regretting and cursing! haha!
So you saved me from that, THANK YOU!
I’m going to finish the dress, add colours around the neck line (fabulous suggestion from many of you) and just wear it and love it.
I remember when I stitched the below dress about six years ago, how unsure I was of the colours and the design. I liked it, then I didn’t like it, then I liked it again. I think sometimes that can happen when you’ve been staring at something for so long.
And now I love the dress again.
So what’s the moral of the story?
It jumped out at me in this comment left by Ursula:
“solution #5: change your perspective and learn to love it.”
Not just great craft project advice, but generally great life advice. Thank you Ursula!
❤️
Close up
Let’s do another motif!
You don’t have to believe me when I say this is incredibly easy to draw by hand, you just have to follow along with my steps in the video.
The we stitch this joyful little flower together. This week I added a herringbone stitch as a filler for the semicircle shape. If this is your first time stitching herringbone stitch you might have to go slow and maybe rewind the video a couple of time. But you can absolutely stitch this. I believe in you! Also if you’ve not done Portuguese Stem Stitch before I recommend you have a go. It’s fun and gives a gorgeous result.
If this is your first time seeing this, we’re up to week 5 of an ongoing project. You can see the start in issue 79.
Maker Of The Week
- SARAH BODNEY -
This was shared by Sarah in The Wednesday Tribe Facebook group. I love looking at this! Sarah added little changes and extra stitches all over this design which makes it so interesting to look at. What impressed me as much as her embroidery work was how well she sewed the pouch. I really love how she did the button closures and I’m determined to learn how to do that.
About this design Sarah said:
“What a fab pattern. This is my first month as a member of the Wednesday Tribe and I am loving it! I really love how this little pouch turned out. I plan to carry my embroidery projects in it.”
Thank you for sharing your project Sarah!
From The Tribe
October was the fish month and a few members have already sent in their finished projects. Sarah’s above was one of them and there was also this one from Fiona. Same fish design and look at the difference. Fiona chose different colours, added texture for water and sewed hers into a zipper pouch. The back of the pouch also features a different use of the fish. The whole thing just looks like an exotic aquarium. I can imagine holding this pouch and turning it over in my hands and feeling the textures. Such a great result Fiona!
And this delightful one below was finished by Philippa. This month we focussed on using stem stitch as a filler especially on curvy shapes and Philippa did a fabulous job on the flowers. They’re not easy to do! Thank you Philippa for sharing it!

Till Next Week!
I know it was a short newsletter this week. But I’m sure you’ll understand when I tell you I still need to wash my hair, go grocery shopping, brine the chicken, prep the patio, pick an outfit for tonight and draw my eyebrows on straight.
Catch you next week my sweet, beautiful friends!
Big hugs xxx

P.S. Here I am with Johnny when we went to Cirque Du Soleil last week.
